"If you write thousands of sentences that have absolutely nothing to do with what you think or feel those sentences are still what you will become. You can turn yourself into another person. I turned myself into another person." - Sarah Miller, from "the Movie Assassin"
Happy 2019!
My portrait of two C3P students was just accepted for a journal! Ahh! This is my first "solo" article (many helping hands supported me through the process, for which I am eternally grateful), and it was definitely a nerve-wracking experience. I don't think I like writing by myself very much. Where is the accountability? The support? As I struggle through the field statement process right now (due too soon), I am trying to remind myself that I only need to write 500 words a day right now, and also that it's okay if it's a "traft" (a trash-draft, thanks LP!). Everyone has to start somewhere! And yes, I'm trying to write many sentences about exactly what I think and feel, but it's still challenging.
Other things I'm doing: Watching Doctor Who. Doing the #100AbChallenge. Making rotisserie chicken pho. Entertaining cats.
2018-->2019: This time of year means lots of "best-of" lists, resolutions, and intention-setting. This woman went to 52 places in one year. Here's what some people learned this year. Sans serif as a marker of this era. AHP's recs (read all of them!). Shaping 2019 with our words.
Other: A history of the Jewish American Princess. On never making dinner for men again. Joy and inclusivity in synchro swimming. doc.new is my favorite shortcut.
"Once I started thinking it was dumb I had stopped taking notes. (This could be my epitaph.)" - also Sarah Miller, from "the Movie Assassin"
Productivity: Willa asked me how I get things done (spoiler: I don't really), and I think my system is fairly simple: (a) I am a longtime advocate for the bullet journal and (b) I only strive to get 3 things done every day. Also, I don't beat myself up if things aren't done that day. Here is a picture of my weekly spread, which usually looks something like that; it's then followed by daily pages with their own lists. But here are a few other thoughts on bujo & general productivity: Productivity materialism. The most beautiful productivity materialism. How to get started. Minimalist bujo spreads. A different version of the weekly spread (ooh I might try this one!).
